Children and ghosts
Need a contemplative break from all the noise and chaos?
Children and Ghosts is a meditation on coming and going, existence and absence. Twenty-five minutes long. Nine little songs. One cozy lullaby made of nine ideas.
The songs were recorded on my iPhone in my bedroom—same spot, same chair, same guitar, same mood, over the course of two days. I’d wanted to make something like this for several years — a simple little record with a simple sound—inspired by old Hank Williams recordings. With two exceptions, the songs were all written over a few months last year.
I made this to be listened to in a quiet space. It’s best on headphones, and most affecting when listened to start to finish. The video was recorded in the same place as the songs.

Winnebago Dreams
Tiny diners, greasy spoons and ice cream every afternoon. Lobster roll stands. Summertime. Love lost and love found. Where we came from and where we’re going. Silly songs and serious songs. My hope with this album was to light up that little lantern in your heart with some reflective road music. It’s acoustic guitar, fiddle, accordion, big upright bass, harmonium and harmonica music. It’s a story from start to finish. Take it for a spin in your car tonight. Half an hour up the road and half an hour back oughta do it. I hope it touches something deep and fun in you.

American Pictures
“American Pictures” is the first album I’ve written since I was a long-haired kid in L.A. struggling to get a record deal. It’s about the malfunction of the American dream, seen through the eyes of uniquely American characters caught between their potential and their circumstances. It’s folk music—simple melodies with dulcimer, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, and guitar.
